You have landed at Incheon International Airport and your hotel is somewhere in Myeongdong. Should you board the airport train or the limousine bus?

The most useful answer is not a blanket “the train is faster” or “the bus is easier.” It is this: find your hotel entrance first, then compare the last part of the journey. A convenient rail journey can end with an awkward station transfer and stairs. A direct bus can save that transfer, but your stop may still be several streets from the lobby, and road traffic can make arrival less predictable.

This guide compares the usual decision points for the Airport Railroad (AREX) and Airport Limousine’s 6015 Myeongdong route. It is not a personally timed journey or a fixed-fare ranking.

The three choices in one minute

OptionBroad routeMain advantageWhat to check
AREX Express TrainAirport → Seoul Station → onward subway, taxi or walkA dedicated airport-to-Seoul Station train with a separate ticket productDeparture time, ticket availability, connection from Seoul Station to hotel
AREX All-Stop TrainAirport → Seoul Station → onward connectionRegular railway service with intermediate stopsCorrect gates/ticket, number of transfers, luggage movement
Airport Limousine 6015Airport → several Myeongdong-area stopsCan remove the Seoul Station rail transfer if one stop suits your hotelThe exact 6015 stop, bus service time, road traffic, luggage walk

Both airport rail products serve Seoul Station, not your hotel lobby. An airport bus can bring you into the Myeongdong area, but “direct bus” does not mean “door-to-door.”

Option 1: take the airport train, then continue from Seoul Station

Follow the Airport Railroad signage in your arrival terminal’s transportation area. Before buying anything, distinguish between the Express Train and All-Stop Train. They are separate products with different stopping patterns and ticketing. Do not assume that a ticket for one is valid through the other’s gates.

The Express Train connects Incheon Airport with Seoul Station without the intermediate city stops. The All-Stop Train serves stations along the airport rail line before reaching Seoul Station. The railway operator updates schedules; in fact, AREX announced additional Express Train services from October 23, 2026. That is why copying a departure chart from an old blog is less useful than consulting the official departure board.

At Seoul Station, you still need to finish the trip. For a hotel near Myeongdong Station, one common onward option is to transfer to Seoul Subway Line 4, which serves Myeongdong. Other hotel addresses may work better with a different subway exit, a taxi from Seoul Station, or a walk. The station name in your hotel listing—not just “Myeongdong” in the marketing description—should decide.

Train checklist before you buy:

  1. Which terminal did your flight use: T1 or T2?
  2. Which train product is next and where is its correct ticket/gate?
  3. Which station exit or onward transport is closest to the actual hotel entrance?
  4. Can everyone in the group manage the transfer with their luggage?

For visitors who prefer rail travel and are comfortable changing trains, this can be a straightforward plan. It becomes less attractive if the transfer, luggage or final walk is the hardest part of the journey.

Option 2: use airport limousine 6015 for a Myeongdong-area stop

Airport Limousine’s official 6015 route page lists its airport terminal stops and several Myeongdong-area destinations, including Lotte Hotel / Ibis Myeongdong, Royal Hotel / Euljiro 1-ga and Myeongdong Station / L7 Myeongdong / Sejong Hotel. These are bus stop descriptions, not guarantees that the bus stops in front of each hotel’s entrance.

Before choosing bus 6015, open your hotel address on a map and match it to a named stop on the operator’s route page. This is especially important because “Myeongdong” covers more than a single block. The closest bus stop for a hotel near Euljiro may differ from the stop a visitor near Myeongdong Station should use.

Then check the airport terminal and platform. Incheon Airport’s official guidance places Terminal 1 bus ticket counters both inside and outside the arrival level, while Terminal 2 handles bus information and ticket purchase at the Transportation Center’s B1 bus terminal. The 6015 operator specifically says a ticket is required for boarding at T2 through the ticket booth or kiosk. Exact platforms and departures can change; use the live airport signs and operator listing on your travel day.

Bus checklist before you board:

  1. Confirm you are looking at the direction from Incheon Airport to downtown Seoul.
  2. Choose the 6015 stop closest to your hotel entrance, not merely the stop with the most familiar hotel name.
  3. At Terminal 2, the operator requires a ticket purchased from the booth or kiosk before boarding. At either terminal, follow the live airport ticketing instructions and confirm the platform.
  4. Keep the stop name available in English and Korean to follow announcements or ask for help.

The bus’s appeal is reducing transfers, especially if a listed stop is genuinely close to your lodging. The cost is less control over road conditions and potentially a longer final walk than expected.

How to decide when both routes look reasonable

Try this five-minute comparison before your trip:

  • Pin your hotel entrance and its nearest usable station exit.
  • Pin the nearest 6015 stop from the operator’s route list.
  • Look at the train route including the Seoul Station transfer and final walk.
  • Add luggage, children’s pace or mobility needs to the decision—not just a published travel time.
  • Check the latest departure options for the time you will actually be ready to leave immigration and baggage claim.

If the bus drops you near your door and transfers are difficult, the bus may be the better fit. If a railway connection is convenient and the final leg is manageable, the train may suit you. Neither becomes the winner for every traveler merely because a route planner displays a shorter number.

What about a late arrival?

Do not assume the last Express Train, All-Stop Train and 6015 bus depart at the same time. Check each service separately for your landing date. Immigration, luggage collection and terminal navigation take time; a flight’s scheduled landing time is not the time you reach the platform.

If the published services do not match your expected exit time, consider a licensed taxi or other official late-night transport as a separate decision. Do not force a bus-versus-train recommendation when neither service operates at your arrival time.

Bottom line: The best airport transfer is the one that is simplest from your terminal to the actual hotel entrance, with a realistic number of changes. Compare those steps; then check the current timetable and ticketing instructions on the official sites.
